Quick and Easy Recipes Are Needed For Dinner In A Flash

Do you sometimes find yourself in need of a quick and easy recipe and in a real hurry? Sometimes you find yourself staring at umpteen loads of laundry that need to be done while the kids are clinging to your legs bored out of their wits and looking for some entertainment. As you shake them off, you glance around the house to realize you’ve got a ton of tidying, dishes in the sink, not to mention the work deadline that has come and gone. Then, the phone rings and you’ve got unexpected company arriving in an hour for a surprise dinner visit! If you ever find yourself in a pinch for dinner plans here’s how you handle it:

You’ve got to have a sense of humor to get you through the next few hours of entertaining guests. Relax, breathe deep and laugh. Next, check out the contents in the fridge. You might have some leftovers that could be used for tonight’s quick and easy recipe as well. Your guests don’t know what you had last night for dinner, they’ll be happy to be fed. Besides, no one is really you to serve a 5 star meal in an instant.

Time to get on the internet. After you’ve glanced around the fridge and taken a peek in the cabinets, jump on the computer and search your favorite recipe site. Use a keyword for your main dish, like “chicken” or “pasta”. Don’t get to complicated and elaborate; we aren’t looking for meals suitable for a king. There are a few things to consider while recipe hunting. Don’t pick oven meals or anything that takes a great deal of preparation. You are on a mission to locate quick and easy sauces, mixes and blends. After you’ve found a few selections, print them out for further assessment. Peruse the cabinets a little deeper and make sure you have all the ingredients. Then make your recipe choice.

Another consideration for dinner plans should include the guest list. Are they just adults or are there kids tagging along? Adults are fine with a simple salad, bread or crackers and maybe a dessert snack that you have already in your snack-pack arsenal. To spice up your salad and add a little flavor, check around the kitchen for some ideas. Raisins are a good flavor variety. Sunflowers or walnuts add a nice crunch. Boiled eggs and sliced up lunch meats and also bring it all together. Pineapple chunks and and red apples are nice in a salad too. Be sure not to add too many ingredients; you want the flavor to be tasty and simple.

If kids are joining the dinner party, the supper line-up might be a little different. Frozen kids meals are easy, quick and require little prep time. Fish sticks or chicken strips with a side of your fresh salad prepared for the adults will work just fine. If you didn’t add fruit to the salad already, open up a can of mixed fruit for the kiddies. They’ll dig right in!

Now that you’ve got your meal figured out the best way to surprise your guests is with the presentation. You can make the simplest salad look like a famous chef prepared it by using fancy serving dishes. You don’t have to break out the best china, but dishes with designs or those holiday decorated platters found in most kitchens will do the trick.

Finally, after everyone has thoroughly enjoyed their dinner and the fabulous presentation, remember to keep these ideas tucked away somewhere for future quick and easy recipe use. Have an emergency dinner plan for situations like this and you’ll be much better prepared for those unexpected arrivals. For a successful quick fix dinner, you simply need loads of creativity and a few simple ingredients to keep time on your side.
