If you are looking for a way to spice up your usual meals, a cooking light soup recipes are exactly what you need. Soups are great additions to any meal — whether it be lunch, dinner or even breakfast — especially during cold weather. They can be quite filling but will not fatten you up, so they are perfectly safe to eat even if you are watching your weight. The best thing about soups is that they are very easy to prepare. Even if you have only a few minutes to spare and a limited number of ingredients in your pantry, you can easily whip up a nice warm bowl of soup for you and your family.

Cooking Light Soup Recipes for Dinner

At the end of the day, you either don’t want to eat too much to avoid gaining weight or are too tired from the day’s work to cook up an extravagant meal. Still, you have to eat dinner and the perfect solution is to prepare a light soup recipe.

Light soup is perfect for night time because it helps you relax and melts away all the stress and tiredness you have felt during the day.

Just because they are light does not mean that soups are not nutritious. In fact, they can even pack more nutrients than most foods we are used to eating. By using healthy ingredients like beans, whole grains and fresh vegetables, you can create a soup that will provide you with all the nutritional requirements you need.

Cooking Low-Fat Soup Recipes

Soups are generally low-fat meals, unless of course you add too much salt or oil to it, or add a dollop of cream before serving. Broths in particular can actually help you lose weight without depriving you of your nutritional needs. Typically, a cup of light soup will only contain about 25-40 calories and less than 2 grams of fat.

However, once you add some cream into your soup, there will be a huge difference in the total calorie count. For instance, just one cup of liquefied whipped cream will add about 700 calories and 75 grams of fat to your otherwise low-fat soup.

If you like the creamy taste but don’t want the extra calories, you can try replacing the cream in your light soup recipe with whole milk. This will give you the same rich flavor but will only add 150 calories and less than 10 grams of fat to your soup. If you are counting calories, these are definitely important factors you should consider.
